Lu Yim is a performance maker interested in embodied knowledge and its relationship to language. They create work in retrograde, moving with a dramaturgical process and undertaking research that does not always appear to move in the same direction as their performances. Material alchemy occurs through non-linear consequence, the breaking of an egg and the inflation of a mattress seemingly end there. Their dances are idiosyncratic and work between the power of the individual and of the group. Based in Portland, OR and Brooklyn, NY they are part of artist run groups Physical Education and pidzn club which create collaborative spaces and gatherings for artists. Yim holds an MFA in Sculpture from the Milton Avery School of Fine Arts at Bard College (‘19).
